The Problem
Your Agency Has Stories. But Are Your Prospects Inside Them?
A case study can be accurate and still miss the mark.
The results may be impressive. The work may be rock solid. But if the story is built around what your agency did...instead of what your prospect needs to understand...the person you want to reach may still sit outside the experience you're trying to create.
Use our free Storytelling Scorecard to test five parts of one story:
-
1. Know the Listener
Have you researched what this right-fit prospect cares about and needs to understand? Or are you telling the same story to every audience?
-
2. Earn the Connection
Does the story begin from a relevant point of connection? Or does your agency make itself the hero before earning the right to be heard?
-
3. Reverse the I-to-You Ratio
Can the prospect see their challenge and desired outcome inside the story? Or is it crowded with “we,” “our,” and “us”?
-
4. Define the Movement
Have you decided what you want the listener to do, think, and feel? Or are you hoping the right conclusion lands?
-
5. Make the Path Forward Clear
Does the story show the challenge, changed outcome, and a relevant next step? Or does it end as an interesting anecdote with nowhere to go?

What You Will Discover
Three Score Ranges. One Clear Path Forward.
21–25
The Listener Is Inside the Story
Your story begins with the listener, creates authentic connection, and invites the prospect into the experience. The challenge is recognizable. The changed outcome is believable. The path forward is clear. Protect that discipline...and keep testing the story against what your right-fit prospect needs to do, think, and feel.
15–20
The Listener Can See the Story
Your story contains meaningful substance...but one or two gaps may keep the prospect outside the experience. Research, connection, movement, or the next step may be too thin. Strengthen the weakest element so the story does more than earn attention...it helps create action.
5–14
The Story Is Still About the Agency
The work may be impressive...but your agency remains at the center. Your prospect is hearing what you did without clearly seeing their challenge, desired outcome, or path forward. Start with the listener. Reverse the ratio. Architect the movement before telling the story again.
